*please note that copay (if applicable) is due at time of service
I am an out-of-network provider for BCBS.
This means you can submit a claim for potential fee reimbursement from your insurance company.
Please check if your plan covers out of network services with your insurance company BEFORE receiving services.
This means that each counseling session you attend is paid for upfront by you at time of service. Then you can file the claim with your insurance company to receive any allowable reimbursement for the session fee that you already paid for.
For example:
You pay the full session fee at the time of your appointment.
Post-session, upon request, I will provide you with a “Superbill” that you will mail to your insurance provider.
Your insurance provider will either (A) pay you back in full or a percentage of the fee; or (B) require that you meet a deductible before they repay you a percentage; or 3) pay you the session amount minus any copay amount you are responsible for.
Your insurance provider will send any reimbursements directly to you, the client. It is important that you check beforehand with your insurance provider to confirm if your policy allows out-of-network privileges for mental health counseling.
Each session is approximately 45 to 55 minutes, with 50 minutes being considered the standard length of time for a counseling session across the United States
This length of time allows for documentation as well as scheduling additional sessions
If you are interested in having a longer session, we may be able to schedule two sessions back to back, if time allows, to give you a lengthier session
You will receive a reminder text 24 hours prior to our scheduled appointment. To cancel or reschedule, please call (816) 514-4455.
There is a $75* no call/no show or less than 24 hour late cancellation fee. I understand life happens and sometimes things come up last minute. *Applicable fees applied or waived will be considered on a case by case basis.
Gilley Counseling, LLC complies with all HIPAA (Health Information Portability and Accountability Act) guidelines, as required by federal law, that protects patient rights with regard to use of protected health information.
The law protects the privacy of all communication between a psychotherapist and client, with only a few restrictions that will be discussed in detail prior to beginning therapy.
A free 15 minute consultation is available to discuss your concerns and my methods of counseling. Making sure our therapeutic relationship is a good fit is of utmost importance.
Psychiatrist (MD, DO)
a medical doctor who went through medical school
Nurse Practitioner (NP, DNP) is either a masters or doctoral level trained nurse.
Both have the training to prescribe medication and work in tandem with counselors, psychologists, and social workers to supplement therapy with medication
Please keep in mind that medication alone is not a solution for most individuals, research has shown that a combination of therapy and medication is more effective than just medication on its own
Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) and Psychologists
Both have significant training in counseling, although counselor educators may have more training specifically in mental health counseling
In some states a psychologist could have a masters degree, similar to a licensed professional counselor or licensed clinical social worker (LCSW)
Although it varies by state, many psychologists and counselor educators have doctoral level training such as a PhD, PsyD, or EdD
Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW)
Some social workers have a bachelors degree, although an LCSW certification requires a masters degree
Psychotherapists
Licensed Professional Counselors, Licensed Clinical Social Workers, and Licensed Psychologists are all referred to as psychotherapists
All three qualifications require a masters degree with significant training and exam-required proficiency to counsel the majority of mental health challenges
My overall objective is to help the client(s) create and implement their best plan of action for both setting and achieving realistic and obtainable goals for therapy and life.
Individual Counseling: following a person-centered, non-judgmental approach, I use many approaches to include, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy (REBT), Solution-Focused Therapy (SFT), Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Internal Family Systems (IFS), and a combination of Existentialism and a Humanistic approach.
Marriage/Partner/Couple Counseling: I recognize and emphasize the importance of both strengthening the partnership within the relationship and maintaining individuality. Counseling sessions use an integrated approach of Emotion Focused Therapy (EFT), Imago Therapy, and Gottman Method by promoting and encouraging effective communication skills to meet each others needs in a healthy and loving manner.
